‘LOVER’ is the new track from London-via-Berlin duo Minimal Schlager. It’s a club-ready tune that leans into the pair’s Italo disco influences. Imbued with a widescreen synth-pop sensibility, the track is filled with huge synth sounds, thick bass lines and punchy drums that nod to the forgotten sounds of Berlin’s dive clubs. “I was dating someone at the time and the dynamic was driving me a bit mad,” they explain. “There were toxic expectations like acting nonchalant to keep the other interested, which inspired the song. Playing it cool felt like a safe way to keep seeing each other, but I was fed up with it. I had friends going through similar stories, it was all around me.” They’re releasing the new EP, After Midnight, on June 11th, 2025, via Practice Music. -Dan Peeke
